Office of the Healthcare Advocate
We are fortunate in Connecticut to have this state resource. OHA helps consumers
- make informed decisions when selecting a health plan
- resolve problems with health insurance plans
- solve problems with billing from healthcare organizations and providers
OHA also tracks issues and problems to detect trends that may need outside intervention. This help may be from the legislature or from a state agency. Finally, members of the office work with industry, the public, or other stakeholders to advocate for consumers.
You can request help by filling out a form, e-mailing or calling the office. This page provides the information.
Society for Participatory Medicine
The Society was founded to promote medical care as a partnership between the patient and provider. The organization published a manifesto that can be downloaded at no charge. For each of these five elements, there are actions for the patient and the provider.
For more information about the organization and membership, visit the Society here.
American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology
The AAAAI offers an IVIG toolkit here. The main purpose of the toolkit is to educate insurance companies and regulators responsible for coverage determinations about safe and appropriate use of immunoglobulin therapy. The toolkit includes documents about appropriate site of care for therapy, practice guidelines, and guiding principles.
